I'm a soccer mom and proud of it!

"We are the champions,
  We are the champions
  No times for losers
'Cause we are the champions-of the world"

Einstein had his first soccer championship game today and if you haven't already guessed, his team won!

I have never been so proud of him! He played the best he's ever played this whole season! He turned into this super aggressive, super powerful soccer player!

When I was pregnant with Einstein, I vowed that I would not turn into a crazy minivan driving, soccer mom. Well, I don't have a minivan, but I've fully embraced the soccer mom title and all its glory.

I am the mom that sits on the very edge of the sidelines and cheers with all her might.
I am the mom that jumps up, when they score their first goal.
I am the mom that screams and cheers so much that by the end of the game I no longer have a voice.
I am the mom that starts to cry when the whistle blows to signify the game has ended and that Einstein and his team have won.

I am a mom who is so very, very, very proud of her son and all that he has accomplished today.

Lost art of letter writing

Remember the thrill when you would receive a letter in the mail?

The anticipation you felt as you walked to the mailbox to see if you got a letter from your penpal.

Well, I miss that.

I miss writing letters and I miss receiving them, snail mail style. So, naturally I got to thinking.,...maybe I should start sometime of penpal group, dedicated to sending out 4 letters a month, one each week.

So, what do you think?

Leave a comment and let me know if you are interested.

Growing up is hard to do

This is my little Einstein. Isn't he cute?!?!?

I was finally able to capture his fierceness on film. Isn't he cute?!?!

He may look fierce, but he's a momma's boy to the core. Have I mentioned he's cute?

Well, this past weekend he went on his first overnight camp with his soccer team. And as any normal, good, well-intentioned, loving, and maybe slighty nuerotic mother would, I tried to talk to him out of going. You see, he is my little baby boy and I wasn't quite ready to let him go. However, as convincing as I thought I was, he wouldn't buy it. He more was than happy to leave me behind, in search of some manly bonding time with his team.

I am not ashamed to admit that I cried a little the night before he left, well maybe it was a lot, but who's keeping score. Atleast I waited until he was asleep in bed.

The morning I had to drop him off, I was woken up by muffled sounds. I walked in to Einstein's room, but he is no where to be found. I slowly pushed the door open to find Einstein sitting, down crying. "What's wrong?" I asked. He looks up at me, with his eyes full of tears, shoves his alarm clock in the air and sobs, "It's 7:11! We're late! I've missed the bus, all because you guys were sleeping!

I couldn't help but smile. "Oh, Einstein," I said. "We are not late. We don't have to leave until 8am. Just relax and go get dressed." The tears stopped immediately, he ran out the bathroom and got dressed.

We left right on time, actually 5 minutes early, and he got there with tiem to spare. As I waited around for him to get on the bus, I was hoping he would maybe want to stay with me, hold my hand, maybe hug a little, maybe perhaps he would shed a tear or two. However, no such thing happened. He instead, stood by the door, first in line, so eager to get on the bus to embark on his adventure.

When his name was called, he bounced up steps into the bus, and snagged the seat behind the bus driver, his favorite spot. As they drove away, he smiled, a smile full of joy and opportunity, and I waved goodbye to the my little baby who had just turned into a boy.

It's true...growing up is hard to do...I am pretty sure a mommy first coined this phrase...probably when she realized her little baby, was no longer a baby, but a little boy.

And so 29 is here....

Last Friday, I entered into the last year of 20's. Yes, I crossed the threshold into 29. What better way to celebrate this monumental year than to go to a place I have longed to go since I can remember--the Ronald Reagan Library. I know, I know, I might sound like a cheese ball, but once you get to know me, it will not take you long to know of my love and adoration for Ronald Reagan. May have asked me how or when it began, and honestly I really don't know. I think it started along ago, being that I was a child of the 80's he was the first president I ever really knew of at the time. Then as I got older, I began to read more and more about him and my love and adoration grew and grew.

As soon as, I saw this statue my eyes began to tear up. But it wasn't until I came to this, that I really began to cry.

I took my husband, my little Einstein, and my grandma along for the adventure. I have to say it turned out to be one of my best birthdays thus far.

Naturally, I have passed on my love and adoration of Ronald Reagan to my little Einstein. He dressed up in his suit to honor Ronnie.

Before we "boarded" Air Force One, a photographer took our picture and told as all to do Ronald Reagan's famous presidential wave. Well, ever since then, my little Einstein has not stopped giving the presidential wave, as evident in these pictures.

My birthday ended with a stroll and tri-tip sandwhich dinner at the local street fair and then off to see the much awaited "Eclipse". However, no birthday is complete without cake and candles...compliments of the husband.

Up next, my 30 things to do before I turn 30 list. Once I am finished, I will post it here.
