The trials of sleeping training: Part two
Continuing on from my last post about sleep training...
Now, I wish I could Saturday was just as successful as Friday night--and by now you're probably guessing it was not. Saturday began our nap time sleep training. The nap time sleep training is exactly the same as the bed time sleep training--you follow a routine that the baby will pick up on. However, since it is during the day, there is light, which means the baby can see everything in the room. Not only that, but they are not as tired as they are at night, which means crying and lots of it.
For her first nap, our little Princess cried for half and hour. At her second nap she cried for 45 agonizing minutes. And those minutes tick on by so slowly and the are agonizing horrible. The book suggests that you go in the room every few minutes and talk to your child; however, every time I did that it made her more upset. So, I did not go in the room, I would just peek in to make sure she was ok. By the next day, she only cried about ten minutes at each nap time.
It has been over a week since we began the sleep training process and let me tell you...it was so worth it! My little Princess is so much happier now...she laughs all the time. She sleep about twelve hours every night, granted I still wake her up around midnight for her last feeding, but she goes right back to sleep after she eats.
Sleep training has made a world of difference...next time I will talk more about why decided to sleep train when we did and why we choose the route we did.
