{my new favorite movie: Midnight in Paris}

Alas, I found a new favorite movie...Midnight in Paris.

Now, normally I am not a Woody Allen fan. In fact, if I know Woody Allen has anything to do with the movie, I usually don't watch it. However, since this movie takes place in Paris (you know how am I when it comes to anything French or France related), I thought I would give it a chance. And I am so glad I did!

I absolutely love this movie! And believe it or not the movie inspried me to write more and to read more. To think that Fitzgerald and Hemmingway were friends...can I just say wow!

I love movies that get me thinking and envoke in me one of first loves, reading and writing.

If you haven't seen yet, you absolutely must, and then let me know what you think.

Oh, and don't forget to enter my giveaway.

{kids + sharing a room = sleepless nights}

If you must know one thing about me, you must know how much I value sleep.

I mean without sleep you get fat, you are irritable, you're cranky, you drink way too much coffee, and eat and eat to get more energy to make it through the day--I can go on and on.

Well, when I would have never believed that having a nine year old emotional boy and a stubborn 7 month old little princess would have such issues sleeping in the same room, but they do!

We have had problems ever since she started sleeping in the room 3 months ago. You see, Einstein is still getting used to having a sister and sharing a room. For the most part he is ok with it, but there are those weak moments when he just can't handle it. And the nights...well don't get me started on those. But let's just say sometimes there are fights and sometimes there are tears. But somehow in the end, both end up asleep. Me on the other hand, well, let's just say the jury is still out on that. (I will let you know when they come back with a verdict--a post for antoher time).

Anyways, last week, I decided that it was time to drop my little princess' midnight feeding. And it just so happened that the night I was going to start weaning her, the husband and I went out for a little date night. We got back so late, that I decided to not wake her up and feed her--just see how she would do. Well, she did pretty good. She didn't wake up till 7am the next morning. I counted it a success! The next morning did not fare so well. She ended up waking up at 5am.

So, I decided to do some reading. I found out that it is better to wean your baby, rather than go cold turkey, like moi. When you wean you're baby you are teaching them that they don't need to eat in the middle of the night and it teaches their bodies to compensate by eating more during the day.

Last night I decided to wean my little princess the proper way. Unfortunately, she beat me to the punch. She woke up earlier than planned and then decided that she didn't want to go back to bed. I was in bind. I didn't know what to do...Do I rock her back to sleep (another thing I will have to break her from later) or do I wake up Einstein, move him to my room and just lay her down and see what happens. I choose the later and success! Einstein wasn't too happy when I woke him, but fell back asleep pretty fast. My little Princess talked to herself for a good half hour and then eventually fell back asleep. Me, well, I stayed up and worked for a bit and then went to bed a little too late only to be woken up by my little Princess at 7am.

Success not quite; but we're getting closer. For now, as my husband says, we're just taking it one day at a time.

Well, for one, the name has changed. I never quiet felt that my old name rang true to who I am. I wanted my blog name to personify me and my life. And so, the blog will now be called:

the lemonade diaries

With the new name, comes a new, complete redesign.

Stay tuned for the new, wonderful changes yet to come.

I've been sidelined.

Since last Tuesday I have been sick. And when I say sick, I mean sick. Let's just say the kleenex box has been my best friend. It has not left my side.

I had so much planned for last week. I had so much I wanted, no needed, to accomplish. And in the end I accomplished nothing, other than sleep.

This is not how I wanted to start off my year, but alas, as usual, God had other plans.

So, now this week, I am still a bit sick, but I am doing my best to play catch up with out getting to overwhelmed and over worked.

Stay tuned for some exciting blog news! I can't wait to share it with you.

My take on resolutions

Let me start off by saying....

Happy New Year!

Can you tell I am a little excited it's a new year?!?!

Now, traditionally, with a new year comes resolutions or lists of what you would like to accomplish throughout the new year. And if you're anything like me, most times you abandon your resolutions by March. So, a few years ago, I resolved to not have resolutions any more. That's right, I gave up the foolish practice--as I called it. And at the time, I thought I was the smart one and that everyone else was just crazy for continuing on with their resolutions and such.

Now come this year, 2012, a new beginning after a very bittersweet 2011, I resolved to once again have resolutions.

Why? you may ask. Well, because I realized that my issue with new years resolutions was not with the resolutions themselves, but the fact that those resolutions were another reminder of something I did not accomplish. And so, I threw a bit of a pity party for myself and "resolved" to abolish resolutions all together.

But if 2011 has taught me anything, which it has, I have learned that you can't move forward without a plan. And so I do not see my resolutions as resolutions, but rather as a little plans to be a better more sucessful me. And in doing so, becoming the woman, wife and mother God made me to be.

How do you feel about resolutions?
