{life lately::volume 11::a blessed decemeber}

homemade wontons for the win.
because some times you can only get through the day with the help of a froyo run.
I casually mentioned how I wanted the hallway painted and the next thing I know, he's got the paint out of the garage and covering the carpet.
yes, I am this lucky that I get to wake up to this gleeful face every morning.
I will never understand the awesomeness of minecraft.
she became the master tree decorator...who knew.
Christmas isn't Christmas without the original Little Women.
Blessed that these three call me "mommy".

{hello monday:: the very last monday of the year}

hello Monday, hello to the last Monday of 2014!
hello to a few new changes around here...I thought I would freshen things up around here with a new header and updating the kids the pictures...it's been a while.
hello to crazy busy week. how is it that the last week of the year is so crazy and chaotic? so much to do and so little time to get it all done.
hello to getting things done...this week is chock full of meetings, crazy deadlines and, of course, most importantly, fun.
hello to saying goodbye...this week we say goodbye to 2014. and while 2014 was very, very bittersweet, I am better for it.
hello to new beginnings...this week we begin a new year...a new year full of dreams, learning and promises.
what are you saying hello to today?

{Christmas isn't about me}

This post was supposed to be about everything that went wrong with Christmas...how I did not get my baking done; or how plans changed; or how my little princess threw up 5 times, yes, I said five, in the midst of my Christmas eve festivities; or how the vomiting continued on the ride home; or how we had to miss out on the Christmas day festivities because of her upset tummy; or how someone slighted me out of a gift....
but looking at this picture all I can think of is there smiling faces; their laughter and twinkling eyes as they opened their gifts; and their thankful hearts.
Christmas may not have turned out how I wanted it too. But then again, it's not about me anyways. It's about Jesus and His beautiful, humble birth. It's about the joy that fills our hearts because our Savior has been born. Christmas is about taking our eyes off ourselves, placing them heavenward and shouting for the joy that our Savoir has come.

{the importance of mommy time outs}

life with three kiddos is a great adventure.
there are days when it feels like a non-stop fun, rolling out over and over again. And then there are those days which feel like time is passing so slowing like mud through a sieve.

motherhood can be beautiful. there are days filled with laughs, tickles, smiles--days full of sunshine and lollypops. but every once in awhile, more often then we would like to admit, you have those off days...days filled with tears, tantrums, and frustrations. these are the days when there have been so many time out's you lost count. days when every time you ask you kid to do something they scream "no" in your face...days when they are kicking and screaming because you asked them to put their dirty clothes in the hamper. these are days when you are constantly stalking the clock, counting down the minutes till daddy comes home. the days when as soon as your husband sets foot in the house, you kindly inform him that you will be taking a time out for the next hour. you hastily grab your stash of emergency chocolate, your phone and in search of a place furthest from the crazy that has invaded your house.

it's ok to take a mommy time out, actually I think it's a requirement to maintain sanity a midst the chaos. as a mommy we constantly showering grace on our little ones and now is the time to shower some on yourself. you will better momma and wife, trust me.

so with all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, shower yourself with some grace, grab a chocolate bar and lock yourself in the nearest in the room that locks...your kids will thank you.

{I have a pre-teen...what?!?!}

After pushing for over an hour, I, not so politely, informed my doctor that if this kid did not come out in the next twenty minutes I was giving up and he would have to cut him out. Lo and behold, this kid came flying out, yes, flying, that the doctor almost dropped him. It has been a high flying adventure since then.
The last twelve years have been a nonstop, crazy, bumpy, hilarious ride. We've laughed, we've cried, we've argued, we've yelled, we've loved and we've hugged. Sometimes he makes me want to lock him in his room and sometimes I want to lock myself in my room. But in the end, he will always be that boy that stole my heart with just one look.
Twelve years have never gone by sooo fast. At twenty-one, as I cradled this chubby faced baby, the thought that I would one day have pre-teen was baffling. But here I am, twelve years later, with a sometimes stinky, wise cracking, political, God fearing, crazy haired, big dreamer who keeps me on my knees when I'm not doubled over in laughter.
So, here's to the kid who made me a mommy!
Happy 12th Birthday, Shane!
